Week 9 reading notes

XML Schema Tutorial

Again, I was very impressed with the tutorial just like the HTML one but I really feel that this is too much for me! I tried to grab all the basics but one has to be a little bit more experience with these Markup Language to thoroughly understand how they work.

Extending Your Markup:
An XML Tutorial

This short article/tutorial clearly states the benefits of XML and the different characteristics that make it more meaningful and useful.

A survey of XML standards: Part 1

This was one of the most informative readings of this week. Recommended instructions and further reference might be helpful for people that are willing to try XML. I don't see myself working full-time with Mark-up Languages but I am bookmarking this, just in case :)

  1. Sherry, I agree with you. I don't think I'll be doing much with XML in a school library (at least I hope not!) but these resources are good to keep on file, just in case.

  2. Hey Sherry, I also felt a little lost while reading about XML, but the W3C tutorial and the Bergholz article were extremely helpful to me as well! I'm still a little scared to try to create an XML document, but I know that these tutorials and resources, especially listed in Ogbuji article, will be great guidelines to follow!
